Drag and Drop between 2 windows in Illy

I'm working between 2 or 3 different windows in Illustrator CC and am needing to drag and drop from one window to another.  I've just upgraded to CC edition from a much older version of Illustrator. I love learning new things, but move to new versions kicking and screaming because of change.

I'm used to being able to click on a design and drag it into a new window/document. I can't with the CC version. Am I just out of luck and they don't have this option anymore? Please help!

Hey,

 

Firstly display your files in Float mode by going Window> Arrange> Float all in Windows.

 

Next make sure you save the file you want to drop click on the files Icon on the top of the window and then drag and drop it:

They don't need to float. You drag it to the tab and then onto the canvas.

Can't see an issue with that.

What exactly is it you're trying to move to the other document?

What else is installed? Do you use Firewalls, screensharing software, which browser?

Which system is it? Id Illustrator allowed to record the screen (in case it's Catalina)?

Hi Monika, thanks for the reply. I have 3 different documents open in Illy CC, I have, let's say a heart that I drew in document 1, I select the heart, click and drag over to document 2 and drop. It doesn't drag and drop.

 

I have several CC programs installed, Office 365 and use Chrome browser all on Windows 10. Just not used to this issue.

Can you do a computer restart, then don't open Chrome, but only Illustrator and try again?

 

Chrome is known for messing around and interfering with everything.
