Editing shadows around shapes

Hi, , Newbie question that you may be able to help with. Apologies, have posted earlier and now my deadline for delivery is imminent.

I have a shape with a cast shadow effect, which I can't remember how I even created it. That aside, I now want to adjust the shadow so it only falls across a defined area, and also have no idea how to mask/cut/edit. Please see the attached screengrab for a visual explanation.

Mark, I would use an Opacity mask on a radial gradient.

You had a raster image for shadow.

To walk you though my steps:

Draw a circle, fill it with a radial gradient. Put in the Multiply mode.

You have the Orange and Cyan shapes.

Duplicate the orange shape. Give it a color of white.

Put your gradient below the white path.

Select both your white path and gradient.

Transparency panel, Fly out menu, Create Opacity Mask.

Is this a logo?

Are clipping masks possible or will they get you into issues in production?

Hi Monika, yes, a logo. This will actually appear online (easier) and on a BLACK background (just showing here in grey so you can see the position/coverage of the shadow). The issue may be that when the current file prints onto a BLACK t-shirt for example, the shadow in its current form may (or may not) be visible, so was trying to find a way to only have the shadow across the orange shape.
