Element of a PDF file that disappears when opened in Illustrator

Bonjour,

Good morning,

I have a problem, I have been provided with a PDF and I have to modify an element (barcode)
But when I open the PDF file in Illustrator, the barcode is not present
I have everything else but not the barcode.

How is this possible?

Thank you for your help

Correct answer Monika Gause

It's not recommended to use Illustrator as a general purpose PDF editor, because it is not guaranteed that Illustrator can read everything in that PDF.

You can try the following: create a new file in Illustrator. Place (link) the PDF and Object > Flatten transparency: check outline text and outline stokes.
