Email File Won't open

I don't know what I am doing wrong when I save a file and send it to someone. They try to open it and can't view anything. I usually go to save as and save it as an svg. A dialog box pops up and I just hit ok. It has a dropdown box with choices similar to 2000, 2001, ext. Then it has in drop down box embed, link, and something else. Link is what usually comes up. I leave everything like it is and hit ok. It then saves it to the directory I have chosen. I will then go to my email and upload it and send. When the person I send it to tries to open it they can't. What is the best way to send them to other people?

Like Monica said, it's probably best to send them a PDF rather than a SVG file. This would be especially true if all they need to do is read and print the document. Not everyone has a graphics application (such as Illustrator) installed that can open/import SVG files. Not everyone realizes you can drag and drop a SVG file into a modern web browser window to view the artwork either.

If you're sending SVG files with the intention for the recipients to use the artwork in design projects it would probably be better to give them AI or EPS files. But you have to know what applications they're using in their work flow to know the best format to send.

It's best to zip any .ai file you need to email.

Save it as a PDF (unless the other people absolutely need an SVG)
