I see that the inquiry about the problem is long overdue, but I will be happy if I can help someone else with the same problem.

I found the solution for myself  by copuing the file and paste on my Desktop in a new folder. After that i renamed it and i succefuly opened it again with Illustrator.

Hope it`s helpful for someone else.

Is it open in another appication? Acrobat, Preview or other PDF readers might have the file open. Sometimes syncing services or server catalogue software may be keeping the file locked for periods.

I sometimes get that message too.

I close any open files except for the current application and then the message goes away.

    Which version?

    Which system?

Where do you save your files?

Which options did you chose for the file when saving?
