How to edit a file

Hi, when i download vecor art a file from a commeccial website, it shows file in illustraor with a cross on it. I am not able to edit such files. Can anone plz help.

Dragging it into an open file?

Try and select File > Open and then choose that EPS.

What kind of file did you download?

Exactly how did you get it into Illustrator? Did you open it or did you place it?

    thankyou for replying, I download eps file and open it by draging it to illustrator.
