How to view pdf properties?

So when you save a file as a pdf you have the choice to select the from the adobe pdf preset. I like to use high quality. For the output setting for printing. But I recently ran into a file that apparently wasn't saved correctly because the colors do not match another pdf we printed, I am unsure how to locate this information once the pdf has been saved.

Open the pdf in Illustrator.

First thing I look at is the color mode where RGB or CMYK is up after the filename in parenthesis.

After that Edit >>  Assign Profile to see what profile setting radio button is set to.

You can also do this Acrobat if you prefer to verify your colorspace & profle, but that is more complicated. Adobe Bridge can do this on multiple files all at once.

Acrobat has good Preflight functionality to check and analize your files.

But there is now way in illustrator to check if the files have been saved as "High Quality?" Even though you can adjust it within Illustrator?

You might want to set up your color management appropriately.

It's not about the PDF preset but about the handling of color spaces and color profiles.

Color managment has been an issue in the past, however in this case all of the values matched across all files. After speaking with HP apparently the way some files are saved can affect the outcome of the colors even if only slightly. Due to the preservation of profiles or not.
