I cannot import an Illustrator file into an after effects composition

Hi. I'm trying to import an illustrator file with some draws separated into their own layers. I follow the next steps in After effects: 1- Files 2- Import file (ctrl+I) 3- I pick up the file "Name.ai" 4-Import as: Composition- Retain layer size- (create composition). Finally I can see the file and Composition created, but when I click there, it shows just a simple "ai file", without layers, that looks like a black screen composition,with words. I don´t know what to do!
