I'm facing problems import / place / drag drop png files in illustrator

Recently facing an annoying issues of place / drag and drop any png files in my ai files. My ai is 2021 CC version. I've to convert to JPG only it allows to be placed.

 

I've tried to replace any jpg from link format (relink) to Jpg, nothing happen...

 

This is so strange to me, png file with transparent background also not allow as well.

 

Anyone facing this issues?

Which issue exactly? THe files cannot be placed at all? Or do they look funny?

Which application did you use to create the PNG files? Maybe you chose some rather weird options creating them.

Does it work when you open them in Photoshop and Save for web as PNG?
