Illustrator crashes when opening any file

I'm working on a newly set up PC with Windows 11

CPU: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11700 with 2.5GHz

32 GB RAM

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060

SSD with 1 TB and still about 900 GB free space

Illustrator worked fine for the first like 3 times I opened it, then crashed upon opening a file, did a reinstall and it was fine again for a few hours.

Then a NAS was added to my System and Illustrator crashed. Since then it crashes every time I try to open a file or create a new one.

I have already tried:

  • changing the standard printer
  • reinstalling
  • working with older versions
  • moving the folder
  • analysing the folder
  • analysing the SSD
  • updating graphicscard
  • obviously restarting the program and the PC

There also are no corrupt fonts or plug-ins

I really don't know what to do anymore, does anyone have any idea?

Did you already reset the preferences? Did you install some other software in order to run that NAS?

I did reset the preferences and did not install any other software.

I still don't know what caused it to not function, neither does our IT Support but I reset my whole system and now it works.

are you trying to open files from the NAS ? the person who attached it should just set it up correctly. but also: Illustrator does not like working directly on networked drives

No, I am not. It doesn't matter at all what file or where from I open it, not even creating a new file works.

I tried removing the NAS and that hasn't changed anything.
