We have some users who when overwriting .ai files they've changed illustrator also creates a second file that does not open and is also unable to be deleted. Environment seems specific to Mac users in a windows server environment.

Hello @Jerry5FCD,

Sorry to hear about this experience. When you save and open files across a network or from removable media, many variables impact performance leading to damaged files, access issues, or slow performance.

I would recommend saving your files to a location on the internal hard drive like the desktop and then copying the files manually to the network location.

You may learn more about this behavior here: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/illustrator-support-networks-removable-media.html.

Kindly update this thread if you need further assistance. We'd be happy to help.

Thanks,

Anubhav
