Question

Illustrator eyedropper not picking up swatch

Hi,

My eyedropper is copying colors instead of swatches.

I want to make the red rectangle below the same as the the hatch in the background. But when I eyedrop the hatch, illustrator only copies the color (either white or gray). I'm used to the eyedropper picking up the swatch and its rotation, scaling, opacity...

Recently it even stopped coppying the color, and now it just gives the object an empty fill and an empty stroke...

My eyedropper settings are all checked (see below)...

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Works for me in version 27.6.1

When was the last time you rebooted the computer? Or even reset the preferences (which will erase your settings)?

My AI was up to date so I reset my preferences and rebooted, and that worked!
Thank you so much 🙂

You're welcome.

Unfortunately Illustrator likes its preferences to be reset when you update.
