ILLUSTRATOR FREEZING

When i select the rip printer I want to print to and hit "print" AI freezes. Every other printer on network works. Only freezes when I try to use the rip.

What kind of printer are you using that causes Adobe Illustrator to freeze? Is it a large format printer?

 

If so, does the printer have a separate large format RIP application (such as Onyx Thrive, Caldera, RasterLink Pro, etc)? Most large format printers will not work in the same manner as a office laserjet printer or desktop inkjet printer, where you print directly from Adobe Illustrator to that printer. PDF or EPS files would be created in Adobe Illustrator and then loaded into the RIP application where material profiles and other settings are applied before the job is loaded into the print queue.
