Illustrator Intersect Guide and Snap set to the bottom of bounding box. I want it to be centred.

As Monika said, when moving objects around, the position of the cursor needs to be at the relevant position. Also, ensure that you have selected the selection tools to see if that helps.

Also, verify that your snapping settings are properly configured. Check that "Smart Guides" and "Snap to Point" are enabled in the "View" menu.

Can you perhaps show a screenrecording or a sketch of what exactly is working differently? When moving objects around also the position of the cursor might be relevant.
