Illustrator, Photoshop and indesign CC2018 Hand tool bug

I have the same problem. I signed up to Creative Cloud 5 days ago, however I have not been able to create anything so far due to being stuck on the hand tool after about 10mins of running any adobe program. Here is a quick summary of facts:

Adobe Creative Cloud programs tried - Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator

All three programs will run for about 5-10 mins before becoming locked on the hand tool. The only way to get rid of this bug is to reboot my Mac. Adobe did take over my MacBook, uninstalled Creative Cloud, then reinstalled and the problem was still there. Adobe told me it was a Apple fault....

I have spent the last two days talking to Apple......

I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports) with macOS High Sierra version 10.13.3. Apple have wiped clean and then reloaded my time machine back up twice (in the last two days) I have also had my keyboard cleaned and the space bar is working correctly. Apple cannot find a fault and have told me it is an adobe problem....

I have just read something about turning off the dictaphone and that sadly did not work, the problem is still there.

Anyone got any further ideas, solutions?

    I'm having this same issue in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop/InDesign—the only tool available is the hand tool.

    I can use the key commands to select "T" for type "V" for the selection tool "A" for the point selection tool etc—but all I get is the hand. (no pun intended)

    In Illustrator I tried locking all the layers except the type layer, I can select "Command A" and all the type is selected (blue underscore appears); or I can select the layer and all the type is selected but I can't make an edit or move anything.

    I photoshop I can't select any items on layers.

    I created a new InDesign file and I can paste text in—but the type tool turns into a closed fist and moves the pasteboard around…

    I uninstalled and reinstalled the Illustrator app. I'm running an iMac Retina 5K running Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.4

    Nothing is working!

    This Hand Tool Bug is still around. Happens to me in Illustrator 27.7 (2023) Apple M2 / Ventura 13.4.1 / 24GB Memory. Hand Tool appears and locks me out. I have to restart. I'm working over a network. Ideas welcome.

    I do not think it is a bug. Some times you need to click again on the space bar and give it time.

    It is definitely not a space bar issue.

    Does this only happen when you use the spacebar or also when you select the hand tool from the toolbar?

    Are there any system extensions installed that interfere with mouse or keyboard?

    Have you tried it without any other applications open? (and really I mean nothing else, no email, no browser, just nothing)

    Issues with modifier keys such as the spacebar have been associated to browsers and other internet connection apps in the past. Those issues have been solved in the mantime, but that doesn't mean that they cannot reappear.

    Also: I have done a quick search on http://illustrator.uservoice.com and have found only one issue with this: Hand tool stuck – Adobe Illustrator Feedback (it was just a quick search so you might want to do a more deep one. But that leads me to the conclusion that it is not a generic issue. It might still be one that only happens under certain circumstances. Those are very hard to find.

    Edit: one additional idea: can you try and turn off GPU acceleration in the preferences and see if it still happens?
