Question

Laptop slowing down & almost crashing when I install CC & in particular when I use Illustrator

I am using the Asus Rog Flow Z13 with Intel-7 12th Generation and 16GB Ram. However when I install CC it comes to a standstill almost and there is a huge lag between typing and seeing something on the screen. I have removed CC and it has improved and returned almost to normal. It's a good machine and there should be no delay. Thinking about going back to Canva where I had no issues. I also have similar issues with photoshop.

Hello @zaheera89612151,

We understand how frustrating it can be to experience performance issues when working in Illustrator. Would you mind performing a clean reinstallation of the GPU drivers (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and setting the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator (https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-110) and checking if it helps?

Also, try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Thanks for the message below. I have downloaded the drivers from NVIDIA and installed. However I no longer have the software to trial, as it expired after 7 days. Can I suggest as feedback to Adobe that the trial be for 30 days at the minimum so that any potential teething issues with the software/hardware can be resolved and the application features/benefits can actually be seen.

What kind of graphics accelerator is installed in the notebook? Or is it only using an "integrated" graphics chip set? If your notebook has an NVidia graphics board installed are you using the game ready driver or studio driver?

I was originally using the game ready driver. I've just installed the studio driver but cannot test as I think my trial will have expired.

It's a dedicated graphics card with the following spec: #

NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3050 Ti Laptop GPU ROG Boost: 1085MHz* at 40W (1035MHz Boost Clock+50MHz OC, 35W+5W Dynamic Boost) 4GB GDDR6

The machine is the Asus Rog Flow Z13

It sounds like the notebook surpassses the minimum system requirements for Adobe Illustrator. Was the notebook plugged into wall outlet power or running off the battery when you were experiencing the lag in performance? Some notebooks have performance profile settings to either conserve battery power or boost performance when an AC adapter is connected. Adobe's creative applications can be pretty resource hungry.
