Objects got sent backward everytime duplicated

Every time I use the command copy-paste on the same layer, the object is automatically sent to the back rather than appearing at the top.

This includes creating a new layer. I have selected the first layer on the top and create a new layer, it got sent downwards too.

Eg. I have layer 1 at the bottom and layer 2 at the top. I selected layer 2 to create a new layer, 3. The layer 3 is in between layer 17 and 16.

From all the time I have been using Illustrator, shouldn't duplicating in this way should make my object / layer appearing at the top?

Is there a command or a key to turn this off? I am using Illustrator CS5.1

Thank you in advance.

Didn't notice that was changed on my screen. That solves my problem! Thank you so much

You're welcome. It has a shortcut (Shift+D), so maybe you changed it with the shortcut.

After you copy, are you using Cmd-F to paste to front?
