Please Help W/ Clipping Mask Printing

I made an image that took a square colored background, clipped it to a shape, now when I go to print, the original background is showing very faintly in the back of my clipped shape image. How do I get rid of this?

What kind of printer are you using to print the document? Is it a standard desktop printer or office laser printer? If that's the case the printer may not be interpreting the clipped data correctly. It's more likely to be an issue if there is transparency effects present in the artwork. The artwork will need to be adjusted or even rasterized before it is printed. If you have a large format printing setup it's important for the RIP software to have an Adobe certified PDF engine (and it's also important for the RIP software to be current on updates). A RIP with an Adobe certified PDF engine will print clipped objects correctly (no faint blocks around the objects). You also have to be sure to use PDF files rather than EPS. The EPS format does not support transparency.

Could you describe exactly how you created the clipping path? Is the faint background showing onscreen in Illustrator? Can you post a screenshot depicting the problem? Please also include what version of Illustrator and what operating system that you are using.
