Question

SVG Filters and 3D Materials Listed in German

I am new to Illustrator and today was my first time actually exploring these options. My account language preference is set correctly, all other menu options in Illustrator follow the account language setting except

for these two. Is there something I am missing? What is also odd is that the menu buttons follow the system language preference, it is only the items in the list that appear in a different language.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

For a couple of years there are sometimes some funny language confusions.

In the recent German version of Illustrator, for example, all or almost all symbols in the default symbol libraries are labelled in Danish. The same goes for the default brush libraries.

I don't think that Jacob somehow infiltrated them with a crafty trick, but I'm not sure.

Hmm, I have a theory on this and thought to include this in my prior post, but opted against it as I am coloring way outside the lines. But what you say about the German version showing Danish info is interesting, and consistent with it so here goes: the base theory is that all labels  are essentially numbered lists, with a version available in each of the published languages of the software (obviously). Each list has a corresponding  number assiated with it.

Apparently, the assignment of a language preference is not total. In certain circumstances the app will look-up which language it should produce labels in and this look-up appears to be offset by 1. Deutsch (German) instead of English, Dansk (Danish) instead of Deutsch.

Because it is an offset of 1, it could possibly be related to a row zero bug.

I have no idea if the system works in a manner consistent with the theory. I only post it as a point of curiosity, a theory as to why it happens that accounts for apparent inconsistencies...

So they are in German but you want a different language?

What system is it?

Which language?

Did you ever have something German installed on the computer?

My apologies for the delay in responding. This issue seems to have corrected itself in the most recent update. But to answer your questions: I am using a PC, the system languasge is set to English, and no, I have never had any software installed under any other operational language than English. It was very odd. If you will notice in the screenshot I included, the menu title itself appears in English, 'Apply SVG Filter'. But the contents filling it were in German.

Thank you again for your interest in helping. It was not my intention to ignore you or any response.
