Troubles opening old beta files with current 28.1 update

Is anyone else experiencing issues when trying to open old beta files on the current 28.1 update? The only way that I've found for them to open is by launching illustrator> open> searching for file. Other attempts to open such as double-clicking on the file or right-click open with do not seem to work. Illustrator will launch, but the file won't open.
