v27 is giving missing link error, vs 26 opens file with no issues

I'm opening up a multi-page PDF in v27.4 and it opens up both pages (without the multipage import dialog oddly,) but gives a missing linked error and won't load the missing artwork. The same file opens up in v26.5.3 with the multipage import dialog and loads all the content with no warnings or issue with fully editable vector artwork. V26 does give the "this was generated in a newer version" alert on opneing. I've updated to the latest version and restarted the computer with the same results.

Looks like I'll have to go back to v26 for my day-to-day until this is resolved. I can't waste time tracking down assets unnecessarily.
