Won't let me combine all these paths to one? How to flatten these paths together?

I have  50 or so paths that are made using the brush tool that was locked to a shape. The paths are taking up way to much space and i would like to combine them. Flatten them in a way so they aren't induvial paths anymoe but look the same as they do currntly. It won't let me merge them at all either.

I would not worry about 50 paths. It looks like they are on the same layer, just use the triangle in front of the layer to hide the contents of the layer.
