Data Merge using images freezes on Mac

I'm running a MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020) Monterey OS.   My computer freezes when I preview or attempt to run a date merge using images.  It happens any InDesign file using different CSV files.  I have reinstalled Creative Cloud and my OS.  The same files work on both of my Mac Studios and all my PC's.
