Disable automatic bounding box

At some point this feature was inadvertantly switched on, and now whenever placing a picture or creating a text frame with the text tool, it come automatically with a bounding box to push out text, specifically top and bottom (not sides, so technically a box). At any rate, not seeing how to deactivate this from automatically being applied to everything instead of selectivly using the bounding feature, as it was before. Thank you.

Also, with no documents open check that your chosen default Object Style do not have a Text Wrap set.

Hi @Typothalamus:

is somehow different from how it's been over the years

As per @jmlevy and @rob day, you have inadvertently set a new default—the only question is where.

They covered two ways to change a document default (turn it off in Window > Text Wrap with nothing selected or check the object style in Window > Styles > Object Style) but please note that changing the default only impacts new frames in that file—you also have to turn off text wrap on the existing frames.

It may be worth noting that you can also change a system default—this impacts all new documents. If this is happening in all new files, and not just the current file, then close all open files and repeat the steps mentioned above.

Without any object selected, disable text wrap in the text wrap panel.

It may be just that, but it seems I must continually disable it. It doesn't seem to 'stick,' and is somehow different from how it's been over the years.
