Question

fixed epub without spreads

Hi all,
trying to find an answer to a likely simple question: I am exporting a fixed-layout epub, but want it to display as single pages, not spreads. The "disable spreads" option does this, but is there an option where a reader can display either single pages or spreads depending on reader preference/app options?

Thanks
Peg

Both EPUB and, to a lesser degree, PDF, are helplessly dependent on the reader used. Nearly all "problems" with PDF trace to users using third party readers, and that concentrates on those using the streamlined versions built into browsers.

All of which looks trivial up against the situation with EPUB, for which there isn't even a standard reader (equivalent to Acrobat Reader or Pro), but there are a hundred "improved" ones.

If you publish to EPUB, you simply have to do your best and know that no two readers will see it the same way, and many will see something less than optimal.

That is a reader option and has nothing to do with InDesign, but my guess is no for any of the very few reader apps capable of showing fixed layout epubs.
