Question

fixing/updating page numbers and TOC

Hi all,

I'm new to ID and updating a previous employee's document. I'm having three issues.

The first, as seen in this pic, is that "p14" is duplicated and the link that would make it "p15" is broken.

The second is that there is no little box at all for the page number that should read p23. (Link therefore also broken.)

In this same doc, I will also have to update the TOC as I have changed section headings and so forth. Is that something I can do simply? All the paragraph styles should be the same, it's just the content that's different. [I hope!]

I'm sure this is straightforward for regular users, but other help info seems to focus on master pages.

I'd really appreciate any help you could give me! Thanks

I do not see, what the png files are for? Are you aware that png should not be used in InDesign?

What do you mean, all paragraph styles are the same? I hope you have a structured document with different paragraph styles for each level.

For the toc you have different paragraph styles. When your toc is done appropriate, go to Layout > Table of Content > Update.

If not, make it correct.

Page numbers are NEVER done with PNG files. They have their own text frame with a marker on the master/parent page on a layer on top of all other layers.
