Groundhog Day - InDesign Preferences Panel expanding to secondary display!

I am now using a new 2023 Macbook Pro as my old one has been to the doctors too many times. I am at that annoying stage where no passwords are on there and i am installing the new software.

I have linstalled CC and am having to run the older Indesign due to teh new update not even wanting to work on my new mac.

Another problem that is now happening is that if i use indesign with the application frame 'on', i can expand my preferences panels fine (layers, links etc.) But if i turn off the application frame, the refernces all want to expand and float on the secondary screen... I have tried everything and i need your help Obi-wan... Please, you're my only help!!!
