Hiding text fields containing prices in a catalog

Hi
I am working on a catalog. Every item has a price tag (in a special text-field). I need two versions of this catalog. One is showing the price, the other won't. Since we are talking about 1200 items, it's not practicable to hide each text field seperately. Is there a way to handle this?
You advice is very much appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Oliver

We are a printer and what we do for 4 color catalogs  is to set the price as a spot color (imprint black, 100k). Then we rip the pdf as a spot color and cmyk. Then when we want to plate it we plate the cmyk normal and it comes out without the price. Then for the price we proxy the imprint color to black and make a second black plate. Just a different way to do it with our work flow and the price in black

Good trick if you have control of the post-processing. Most designers, though, have to create a finished PDF or other output without the ability to control the plates in use...
