How do I left align the 3 lines below to the word "Is" on the first line?

I don't have any means to attach an image, but this is simple:

 

Set the left margin for a slight indent (start with 1/2 inch).

 

Set the first line for a matching "outdent" (negative indent,  -1/2 inch).

 

Set a left tab at 1/2 inch. (Optional but good practice.)

 

Now, a tab after the number will line up the whole paragraph. It's all in setting that hanging outdent, which you can adjust to suit your style.

 

Be sure to create a paragraph style for this, and update it if you make changes.

Simnple: Add the Indent to Here character (Type > Insert Special Character > Other > Indent to here) wherever you want the text to be aligned, in this case, just before “Is.” Shortcut is Command backslash or Control backslash.

 

More complex (but better): Use Numbering in the Paragraph panel to not only automatically add the indent and alignment you want, but add numbering as well.

I'll just mildly note that I've never liked or trusted the Indent To Here feature; it's a bit hard to access and implement (like springy spaces) and has the feel of being a hack like the Restart Numbering or other quickie, Word-like, alternate shortcuts. It doesn't save much over what I see as "proper" setup of indent and outdent, and I seem to recall discussion of it producing some maintenance and style issues as well.

 

Maybe it's just me. 🙂

    Creating a paragrah style with proper indents as mentioned by @James Gifford—NitroPress and @Peter Spier is the way to go. Once you get more experienced, you can created a numbered list style that will auto-number your items, but that's for another day.

    You also can do a quick and dirty manual indent by clicking your cursor right before the letter "i" and type Command-\ (Mac) or Ctrl-\ (Win). which indents all subsequent lines to exactly the same position as the "i". like so:

    Define your paragraph style with a left indent that mastched the postion of the I in Is (you might want to make that a tab postion in a numbered list defintion) and set an equal amount first line negative indent.
