Hyperlink Causing InDesign to Crash

Hello everyone! Everytime I try to add a hyperlink to my InDesign document, the program crashes. This happened a few months ago on the last project I was working on too and was hoping it would be fixed by now. Anyone have any tips for me or is it just a program bug?

Is it just the one document or every document?

For just one document try this

If a document is not behaving well then try

File>Export

Choose IDML

Open the IDML in InDesign
Save the file as a new InDesign file with a new name
See if the issue persists.

If it's all documents - or the above doesn't work

Try resetting your preferences:

Windows: Start InDesign, and then press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
macOS: While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.

Can you describe the exact steps you're taking, and where ID decides it doesn't like them?

ETA: And, is this only one document, or does it happen in others (especially a fresh, otherwise empty doc)?

(Your platform, OS version and ID version would help, too.)
