hyperlinks starting midsentence also underlining the final full stop at random

Let's say that I want to create a hyperlink in InDesign midsentence, that goes to the end of the sentence. Don't click this link, I'm just showing what sort of thing I mean. I don't want the hyperlink underline to extend under the final full stop. To me it doesn't look right. However, when I make my selection, carefully NOT selecting the final full stop, sometimes the resulting hyperlink includes the full stop, sometimes it doesn't. Furthermore, if I decide I don't want to keep them, it's not obvious how to automate this and so seems to require a manual intervention ever time.

Is this just me? If not, is there a clever way to handle this? Maybe I'm just misunderstanding something.

Correct answer Willi Adelberger

I've specified a character style with a simple underline which I choose from the drop down list when I invoke "Edit Hyperlink".

Create a characterstyle non-underline and apply it to dots via GREP automatically.

Does the link have a specific form like Http://…? You could perform a GREP.

Oe you could apply a GREP to any dot to apply regular style automatically.

I've tried this, anything that gets replaced seems to just have the hyperlink applied to it again – so you're just replacing the text and the same hyperlink remains on the new text.

GREP styles do not replace. Whar undrline setting has your character style?
