InDesign 18 crashes while deleting a style on macOS Ventura machine

Perhaps this reaches Adobe.

I have noticed in Adobe Indesign CC 2023 when you want to delete a style (e.g. an objectstyle), the software crashes. This happens when you drag 'n drop the style to the recycle bin icon in the panel.

I have a clean macOS Ventura install with a fresh Indesign install also.
My workstation is a Mac Mini M1 with 16 GB memory.

Yes, I have cleared the preferences file, in case anyone would mention this. 🙂

May I ask please which approach you took to reset InDesign preferences? There are 3 ways, some more thorough than others.

Reset Prefs InDesign

I took the shortkey method while starting Indesign. CMD+OPTION+CTRL+SHIFT while starting Indesign. Im not at my desk right now, but I believe CTRL is included. Funny how you do things on a keyboard naturally, but have doubt when to type it without being at a keyboard. 😆

There may be a subtle bug here, but it's not happening with my MacBook Pro 2021, which is running InDesign CC 2023 on Ventura.

Here I have an object style applied to the blue text frame on the left:

I deleted the object style by dragging it to the Trash can.

Here is the result, with Object Style deleted:

No crash for me!

So there must be something else going on.

Also: the MacBook Pro 2021 is running an Apple M1 chip.

Does this only happen with one file, or with other files as well. It's possible there could be file corruption. Saving as an IDML file might help. File > Save As > InDesign CS4 (or Later) [IDML]. Reopen the IDML file into InDesign and try again.
