inDesign - drag and drop portrait photo

Why in inDesign, when I drag and drop portrait photo, the box/frame comes in  landscape? Its furstrating as i need to constanly reajust the frame....

    i fugured it out:) on the top toolbar i changes d to none. it was set to Basic Graphics Frame and had a +...:) that sorted my problem. Thanks for you kindness.

    Looks like you might be using the Gridify option 
    https://creativepro.com/tip-week-gridify-magic/

     

    When you use Gridify when placing images of different widths it will use the image with the largest frame as the option for the width of all the boxes. 

     

    I think that's what's happening here.

    Hard to know.

    no. turning it on or off doesn't seem to be making a difference...:(
