Question

Indesign files from PC to Mac

Using a Mac, I am trying to open and work on files that were originally created on a PC. When I go to Save, or sace a copy of the files, it says that the file is damaged. The file is fine on the PC though. Any ideas how I can convert them?

The problem can be caused in the transfer. If this is the case, the problem will also happen with IDML.
How is the transfer done from one computer to the other one?

There may be corruption in the file. Instead of a simple save, choose File > Save As > InDesign CS4 [IDML]. This creates a file which stores the data in a format that can be opened in different versions of InDesign and in the process can remove corruption from the file. After saving it, reopen it with the InDesign version you're using, and likely it will be OK.
