InDesign Timing Panel is greyed out

Hi, I am trying to animate in Indesign, I have already made some basic movements but I am not able to time them in the Timing Panel, as the whole panel is greyed out. I tried making everything buttons, I tried making everything bookmarks, still none of my objects appear in the Timing Panel.

What am I doing wrong? 😞

Thank you so much!

I tried everything you said, I realised that my main issue was that I used a vector that I pasted in from Illustrator. I exported it separately from Illustrator and used a linked image instead, that seemed to work..

Hi @veofinn ,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. If the panel is greyed out, it usually means that the objects you want to animate are not set up correctly. Here are a few things you can check:

  1. Ensure your objects are set up as Buttons: Animations can only be added to things set up as buttons. Select the Object and go to the Object> Interactive > Convert to Button menu to check this.
  2. Check your layers: Animations can only be added to objects on the same layer as the Timing Panel. To check this, go to the Layers panel and make sure the Object is on the same layer as the Timing Panel.
  3.  If the above things are setup correctly, please ensure you have selected the objects you wish to setup the animation timing.

Let us know how it goes. We'll try our best to assist you with this.

Thanks

Rishabh
