Link an excel spreadsheet to In design to update wine list

Hi all,

I would need some help to set up a link between my Excel spreadsheet and an InDesign document.

To give you a context, we are a hospitality business with multiple venues/restaurants and bars. We have different wine lists depending on the venues, with different designs but listing similar wines.

We manage vintage, wine costs, and prices from one Excel spreadsheet. The idea would be to link this spreadsheet to the design of the wine list. So every time we update a price or vintage in Excel, it automatically changes it on the right document.

Is this something soemoe already dione in the past? If so, could someone advise us on how to set this up?

Thanks

Morgane

Is the list filtered or modified for different venues? For example, does one location have different prices or different selections from the others?

Depending on how your data is set up in Excel, you could use named regions in Excel and link to them in InDesign.

If you need if/else logic for the data, I would look at Emsoftware InData. (InCatalog is better for linking to actual databases.)

I've attached a simple step-by-step list for linking to an Excel file.

Sounds like a catalog - there are plugins like InCatalog

There's a review of some here
