Question

Mini saves are not working with InDesign

InDesign 19.2 on a Mac Book Pro with an M1 chip is not working as usual. Previously when the application crashed it would not be a problem because the program does mini saves automatically – known as auto-saves – and will practically recover the work from where you left it. Not any more. Now InDesign opens the file where it was last saved. Opening a recovered file with the last mini is no more. This week it happened to me three times already!
Has it happened to anyone else and is there a solution?
I forgot to save today and just lost a whole day's work unfortunately!

I have InDesign 19.2 on a MacBook Pro with an M1 chip and I'm not having this problem. What operating system (exactly)  are you running? If you're running Ventura, you should update to 13.6. If you're running. Sonoma, you should update to 14.2.1.

Does this happen with all files, or just with one file? If all files, you can try restoring your InDesign preferences and caches. Here's how:

Of does this happen with only one file. If one file, there could be corruption in the file. Saving the file as IDML (File > Save As > InDesign CS4 or Later [IDML] can sometimes help to remove corruption. Reopen the IDML in InDesign.
