My InDesign file is showing all text boxes and links. I need help to turn this off.

A colleague (who is currently uncontactable) changed our InDesign setup to show links and all text boxes as though they have borders when they don't.

I've gone to Type-Hidden Characters, but that isn't the issue. So every picture has a box around it and a little 'link' graphic and every text box looks like it has a border. I can't see what I'm doing! I want my grids and guides but not all this other stuff. Does anyone know how to turn this off?

    A screen shot would help.
