Michel

Correct answer Laubender

And Michel,

please report back if you were successful with my recipe.

Test backlinking from the endnote text to the endnote in your main text.

Had the "pleasure" that in some cases it worked, in some cases it did not.

And that in the same document.

Thanks,

Hi @michel11041973 ,

basic things first if you want endnotes that are linking to endnote texts ( and hopefully also back ) :

Minimum requirement for PDF export is:

PDF Export (Print)

Compatibility: Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4)

[x] Create Tagged PDF

[x] Hyperlinks enabled

But read the full story below; could be that there are circumstances, mainly text formatting, that backlinking will not work as expected:

Never think for an interactive PDF we have to export in Print…

Have a nice day !

Hi @michel11041973 ,

do you have interactive elements like buttons in your InDesign document that require an export to Adobe PDF (Interactive) ?

If yes you could try the following:

[1] Export to Adobe PDF (Interactive) to PDF file A.

[2] Do another export to Adobe PDF (Print) to PDF file B.

Open PDF file A with Acrobat Pro DC.

Exchange all pages from file A with PDF file B.

All interactive elements like buttons should remain and work as expected.
