Trying to create a text variable in inDesign

I have an Link on my page and I want to automate the dimensions of that Link. The Link is a PDF 148x210mm. So on my page I want the dimensions to appear. I thought if I create a text variable it would import the page size of the PDF. But I can't seem to get this to work. I tried Define... New... Image Dimensions... Edit... Type - Metadata Caption... and tried selecting Dimensions and Size but neither of these work. I want the original PDf page size, even when I scale the image on my page the dimensions should be true to the orinigal PDF page size and not the scaled image on my page. Can anyone help?

Dimensions would give you the size in points and the File Size would be in MB. What I have done before is have a script in bridge that puts the dims in another metadata property like Headline and use that with the Metadata Caption.
