AI assisted search for LRC so it catches up to the competition

I am am a long-time Classic user and enthusiast.  And I do use collections and tagging but find the AI-assisted image search in my Samsung Galaxy phone with Gallery app and Google Photo backup of my phone images to be incredibly convenient and accurate. Subjects, colors,faces, you name it with no tagging. I know Google photo AI is server-based but my phone does it on local images.

 

Now with Adobe using Firefly in PS, could LRC finally catch up?

I find myself searching for something on Google photos or samsung galaxy gallery, finding the filename or date, then going to LRC to find the image.

 

I am hoping to hear this is in beta or something....have not been plugged into tall the latest developments with their AI.

 

I see no reason why our high end paid for editing program should not have the same search capabilities my free phone Gallery app has.

    I have also looked into this. I tried Excire awhile back and the results were mediocre. They have updated their LR plugin since so I might give the new version a try (free 14 day trial).

    You CAN use the regular Lightroom (Lightroom CC, not Classic) on your desktop, with your local files now. This feature (Local Folder) has been introduce just a few weeks ago. No Catalogue, just browsing and editing local files, similar to the way Bridge does.  I am yet to find out if that includes the ability to use Adobe Sensei to search through those files .. In general it looks like Adobe will eventually discountinue LRClassic support all together to have only the LR CC workflow between mobile and desktop left. Hence the latest change to use it without the need of files in the cloud !!!

    It's unlikely LR Classic will ever have AI search built-in. When Adobe announced the LR Cloud ecosystem (LR Classic 7), they stated they would be focusing their efforts on LR Classic on Develop and image quality. They've kept to their word, making at most modest changes to Library and the other modules in the years since.

     

    You could sync your photos with LR Classic catalog with LR Cloud and do your AI searches there. Or you could use a plugin such as Any Vision or Excire.

    Thanks for your reply. That is unfortunate.  I have all the mobile toys, phone and tablet, but for serious editing  I still use my pc.

     

    I have looked into both of these before but did not take the plunge for various reasons.  With Excire my concern is it populates your tags to facilitate searches.  I do have many of my 70k of images tagged with the basics and would not want to lose that searchable method if overloads my tags.

    I always thought Any Vision the Google-based solution looked too expensive. But now I see it is priced per SEARCH? So 1,000 free searches a month.  I have missed that in the past and will have to look into further.
