Can't download images from my camera because destination folder is unwritable.

I sat down at my computer yesterday to download images from my old Canon 7D to my LIghtroom Classic on my iMac.  After some time I realized the images were not loading. I tried a smaller group of images.  No luck. I got the messages that the images could not be added to files or copied because the destination folder was not writable.  I have not changed settings or made any changes since my last files.  Luckily this is personal work and not one of my professional sesions with a deadline.  Additional question.. how do I delete the empty folders from LRC? And of course, what do I have to do to be able to download files into LRC again? FYI. This is an updated version of LRC.  Thanks

Check your import dialog. What folder is selected as destination folder?

You can remove folders from Lightroom Classic by right-clicking on them and then choosing to remove them.
