Color overlay requires clicking w/ each new mask, & the color returns as soon as I adjust my image

I am using a PC. After the last update in LrC, I am finding that everytime I open a mask, I have to click the Color Overlay, this was never an issue before. I am also finding that once I click on it, the color overlay dissapears as expected while I am actually adjusting it, but returns as soon as I complete what I am doing. This is making editing a real chore. I have looked everywhere I can think of to see if I have any options. I have restarted my computer, and uninstalled and reinstalled LrC on my computer without a change. A couple of times I have seen the box checked when I first open the mask, and after a momnet of excitment, it immediatley disappears.
