Destroyed catalogue - XMP files?

I have really messed up - long story but just bought a new Windows PC and have destroyed all of my Catalogue data. I have copies on a PC elsewhere but will not be there for a few months. If I create a new Catalogue in LR Classic and import my photo will the XMP data and things like name tags and geo tags be imported with the photos? I do have some backups but I'm thinking of starting from scratch now I know how LR works.

Thanks in advance

Tony

Yes, the XMP files contain the edits and metadata like keyword tags and gps tags. These are automatically read and applied upon import.
