(Note: This is an old issue, there are recommendations how to solve it, incident reports etc., but none of them work for me, see https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-bugs/p-favorite-folders-cannot-be-unmarked/idi-p/12664212 or https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/deaktivate-marking-of-a-favorit-folder/m-p/12088812#M233242.

Either this bug was never fixed, or re-introduced with newer versions. Of course this could also be a PEBKAC subject ;-))

Windows 11 Home, Lightroom Classic 12.4.

I am not able to unmark favorite folders in the library view (key G). If I do so, I do get the option again to mark the folder as favorite again (hence the software did something!), BUT the asterisk/star does not vanish, AND it is still shown if I filter for favorite folders only ("Nach Ordnerfavoriten filtern").

German screenshots: "Markierung als Favorit aufheben" = unmark as favorit

Almost nothing happens, folder "2019" still has an asterisk:

But it now offers the "Als Favorit markieren" option = mark as favorit:

It appears you may have created multiple Favorites containing the same folder (and other folders as well).  Follow these exact steps for removing the Favorites:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-bugs/p-favorite-folders-cannot-be-unmarked/idc-p/12667930#M25635

If that doesn't help, then click the source navigator menu at the top-left of the filmstrip (as shown in that post) and post a full-resolution screenshot (not a phone pic) of the source menu that pops up.

Thanks for your reply. As mentioned, I already saw your old post from 2020, but I misinterpreted the steps that need to be done. I think this was my fault: in my example I did not explicitly click the corresponding line marked as yellow here, because it was already ticked:

So - as anticipated - it was a PEBKAC subject...

I admit this bug is not one of the burning issues, and there's a workaround obviously. But still this a bug - and Adobe obviously does not plan to fix it. But anyway, thanks for your help again.
