Is My Issue With Lightroom Classic Too Unique?
I shoot on a Panasonic Lumix S5 IIX. All my photos are shot in raw RW2. At the end of a shoot, I accidentally formatted my SSD, but luckily backed up a majority of my photos and video to an external hardrive a few hours beforehand. It worried me, but I knew there were programs avaliable to restore data for such situtations. I used "MyRecover" in order to save my data. Thankfully, I was able to retrieve all of the photos I'd lost, but now there's a catch. For a majority of the retrieved photos, anytime I throw them into Lightroom Classic, I'm met with "this file appears unsupported or damaged". However, not all of them give me this issue, some of them are able to be edited. I decided to cross reference these recovered versions with the original RAWs that I had previously backed up to my external hardrive. The original RAWs obviously worked in Lightroom, but the recovered ones did not. The recovered versions also have a file extension of "rw2" instead of "RW2", not sure if that makes a difference or not. I tried changing the file type from the lower case to the upper case version, that changed no results. Tried moving the files to another location, and several different drives, no change in results. I even tried to convert these lower case RAWs to DNG files, and Adobe's DNG converter was unable to read those "rw2" files. I'm pretty lost at what to do, and anything I try online doesn't seem to help. Is my problem too unique? Would anybody out there have a solution for this issue?
