Lightroom Classic eats my CPU and gets worse with every update

I used to love Lightroom. But now it just annoys me.
Apparently I'm one of 1000s of MacBook users experiencing CPU problems.
At times, CPU usage is over 700%.
The fan runs at full speed the whole time the app is open.
It often takes me 15mins to export 50 images at 2000px.

I've tried everything to speed things up:
- Using smart previews
- Turned off graphics accelerator
- Set my RAW cache to 20gb
- Purged all malware cleaners
- SMC reset
- Optimised catalogue

I have a subscription but I'm considering switching to Capture One.
I need this for my work but I can't work if my computer slows to a crawls every time I use Lightroom.

Suggestions welcome.

Exporting is always CPU intensive. It is designed that way to finish quickly.

Is there anything that LrC is doing in the background, like face recognition or cloud syncing?

 

You can use the Mac OS tools to lower the priority of LrC to "below normal" or the like. This will let the other programs run as they need while still letting LrC use all the remaining CPU cycles.

    Why is the enhanced version of my photos worse than the original? It's suppose to add 4 pixels for every pixel in the picture I believe but when i enhance, the photo looks terrible when zoomed in at 100% when compared to the original at 200% (for like for like comparison). Could you please help? thanks
