Question

photos are automatically converted to b/w

Hi guys!

I´ve just installed lightroom classic 12.1 (and camera raw 15.1) and imported photos via tether from my camera.

When trying to develop those images, they´re always automatically converted to b/w. There are no presets or whatsoever used while importing the files. Even when checking the setup in the development screen it shows that images are being processed as "color".

I may add that I´ve used lightroom cc10 a couple years ago, but deleted all files on my computer prior to install the new version (on windows 10 home edition).

What do I need to do to fix this? Thanks in advance!

Check your raw defaults, you may have a setting (preset) for B&W.

See: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/raw-defaults.html

This area is what you may wish to adjust:

This takes place in Adobe Camera Raw too.

Thanks for your reply - but I checked those settings before, too. They´re all at default, I never changed that, and before upgrading to the latest version, there´ve never been issues with that.

What shows in the camera tether 'Develop Settings'?

eg. a Tether Preset of "B&W..."

What File-type is your camera set to?  RAW or JPG?

Is your camera set to a Monochrome Picture mode?

My options in my Nikon are-

-RAW > shoot with tether Preset B&W > Mono image in Library (convertible to Color in LrC)

-JPG > shoot with tether Preset B&W > Mono image in Library (convertible to Color in LrC)

-JPG & MONOCHROME SCENE MODE > shoot with tether Preset B&W > Mono image (NOT convertible to Color)
