Re-download from Lightroom mobile after restoring local storage from backup

Hi there,

 

Seeking help to force LR Classic to force a download from LR Cloud/Mobile.

 

While on a recent trip I synced photos from camera to LR Mobile (via iPad), made edits, shared, etc...  When I got home I opened up LR Classic on Mac and it began syncing as expected to my local library, including the LR Mobile incoming folder on an external hard drive. 

 

Before this process was complete the external hard drive failed. I've restored from a backup made before the trip, but now the catalog believes that they've been downloaded/synced and are just missing from local storage. The images remain in LR mobile.

 

How can I trigger a re-download of my LR mobile images to local storage? I've tried the rebuild sync data using Alt key in the sync tab of the preferences window, but it didn't do the trick.

 

Alternatively, all images are still on the CF Express card but I don't want to import them as new images and lose edits that I've already completed on mobile.

You can't force Lightroom to re-download images which it thinks are still synced, even though LrClassic thinks they are now missing. The easiest way out of the situation would be to manually copy the "missing" images from the memory card into the folder that LrC expects them to be. If you get that right, LrC will automatically reconnect to those images, and all existing edits will be preserved.
