Seeking guidance on best practice for syncing Lightroom Mobile with my classic catalog.
Hello again folks, you're recently incessant question asker here, reporting back in. In todays episode, I'm hoping to get some guidance from you folks on best practices for integrating iphone photos into my Lightroom Classic catalog. Here's how I work.
TLDR: If I edit an iphone photo in LR Mobile, and therefore a copy of the file (of course along with the edits) then lives in my LR cloud, should I just delete that source photo from my iphone camera roll, so that when I ultimately ingest my iphone photos to my computer and import them to my classic catalog, I can then import the LR cloud photos straight into the classic catalog with minimal work/complications? Basically I ingest my iphone photos, import them to my main LR Classic catalog, organizing by date. I am seeking the most efficient way to get my LR Mobile app edits imported into the classic catalog, also organized by date.
The long story:
I shoot photos on my iphone. I take them with the native iphone camera app and they therefore live in the camera roll.
I sometimes choose to edit photos on my phone. When I do, I import those photos into the Lightroom Mobile app, and do the edit. An instance of this file then lives in the Lightroom Mobile app, as well as of course my LR cloud ecosystem.
At some point, I ingest my iphone photos onto my computer, and then import them to my main LR Classic catalog. In cases where I edited some of these photos in the LR Mobile app when they were on my phone, I am now left with the unedited version in my classic catalog, as well as the edited version in my LR cloud. Today I have just dealt with importing hundreds of images from my LR cloud into my classic catalog, and dealing with it all has made me wonder if perhaps the best practice is to simply delete the photo from the camera roll on iphone when I choose to import it into LR Mobile app.
While I acknowledge that I might have answered my own question, I decided to post this question because I am curious what other people do in this general situation.
Thank you.
